Three Arrested After Armed Robbery at Millbrook Savings Bank on Delaney Ave
Millbrook police apprehended three suspects within two hours Tuesday after an armed robbery at Millbrook Savings Bank left two employees shaken but uninjured.
MILLBROOK, June 11 — Three men were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon following an armed robbery at the Millbrook Savings Bank branch on 4400 Delaney Avenue, according to a statement released by the Millbrook Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m., when two masked individuals entered the bank and demanded cash from tellers at gunpoint. A third suspect waited in a getaway vehicle in the adjacent parking lot. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.
Suspects Identified and Arrested
Police said a dye pack hidden in the stolen cash activated shortly after the suspects fled, drawing attention to their vehicle near the intersection of Delaney Avenue and Route 9 bypass. Officers from the Millbrook PD's East Patrol Division, assisted by the county sheriff's office, conducted a traffic stop and detained all three suspects within roughly 100 minutes of the initial 911 call. The suspects — identified as Derek Holman, 34, Corey Basch, 29, and Trevon Ashby, 31, all of Millbrook — were transported to Millbrook Police Headquarters. Charges include armed robbery, conspiracy, and unlawful possession of a firearm. All three are being held pending arraignment.
Bank to Reopen Wednesday
Millbrook Savings Bank spokesperson Diane Cho confirmed the branch will remain closed for the remainder of Tuesday but is expected to reopen Wednesday morning. Cho thanked law enforcement for their quick response and said the bank is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. Police Chief Raymond Okafor said at a brief press conference that the rapid arrest was a direct result of coordination between patrol units and the department's recently upgraded surveillance network. "This is exactly what that investment was designed to do," Okafor said.
