Local Band The Harrow Road Collective Lands Spot at Statewide Indie Music Showcase
Millbrook's own Harrow Road Collective will represent the region at the Crestview Independent Music Showcase next month, after beating out more than 80 acts in an online public vote.
MILLBROOK, June 3 — The Harrow Road Collective, a five-piece indie folk-rock outfit that has been a fixture of Millbrook's live music scene since 2019, has secured a coveted slot at the annual Crestview Independent Music Showcase, held this year on July 19 and 20 at the Crestview Amphitheater. The band beat out more than 80 regional acts in a two-week online public vote, finishing with just over 4,400 votes — a margin of roughly 600 over second-place finisher The Margot Deen Band from Harwick.
From the Tap Room to the Big Stage
Lead vocalist and guitarist Sera Alcott told The Courier the news still hasn't fully sunk in. "We started playing Tuesday nights at the Millbrook Tap Room for, like, twelve people," she said, laughing. "To think that twelve people turned into four thousand-something votes is just wild to us." The band — which also includes bassist Marco Quintero, drummer Felicia Osei, keyboardist Tomas Varga, and pedal steel guitarist Nate Pryce — released their debut EP Gravel and Light last October to strong local buzz and a glowing review from regional music blog The Midland Sound. The Crestview showcase represents by far their largest stage and their first exposure to a statewide audience.
- The Crestview Independent Music Showcase draws an estimated 8,000–12,000 attendees over two days
- Past showcase alumni include Vera Solis, who has since signed with a Nashville label, and The Dunmore Brothers
- The Harrow Road Collective plays the Millbrook Tap Room on June 21 for a "send-off" show ahead of the showcase
Tickets for the June 21 send-off show at the Tap Room are $10 at the door, and the band says all proceeds above costs will go toward travel and equipment rental for the Crestview trip. Doors open at 7 p.m. If the last few years of packed Tuesday nights are any indication, you'll want to get there early.
