Millbrook Police Arrest Two in Connection With String of Warehouse Burglaries
Millbrook police announced Friday that two suspects have been taken into custody following a months-long investigation into at least seven burglaries targeting industrial warehouses in the city's Northgate district.
MILLBROOK, June 3 — Millbrook Police Department detectives arrested two men early Friday morning in connection with a series of warehouse burglaries that have plagued the city's Northgate industrial district since February, according to a statement released by the department at 9 a.m. The suspects, identified as Garrett Loomis, 31, and Derek Sousa, 27, both of Millbrook, were taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop on Route 9 near the Northgate interchange at approximately 2:15 a.m. Officers reportedly found tools consistent with breaking and entering and a quantity of stolen equipment in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Investigation Details
Detectives say the burglary spree targeted at least seven warehouses over a four-month period, resulting in an estimated $340,000 in stolen goods including commercial power tools, electronics components, and copper wire. Several of the affected businesses had reported the thefts to police between February and April with limited leads. The breakthrough came after investigators reviewed surveillance footage from a neighboring property and received tips from two anonymous callers, according to Millbrook PD Spokesperson Lt. Angela Howell. 'This was patient, methodical detective work,' Howell said at a brief press conference Friday afternoon. 'We're grateful to the community members who came forward with information.'
