MILLBROOK, June 2 — Summer is just around the corner, and the city's parks and recreation department has officially released its full lineup of community events for June through August, promising something for just about everyone. Organizers say this year's calendar is the most ambitious in recent memory, with more than 40 scheduled gatherings across the city's neighborhoods.
Highlighted Events This Season
- Riverfront Music Nights — Every Friday in June, starting June 7, at Caldwell Riverfront Park. Free admission, food trucks on-site.
- Millbrook Community Yard Sale — June 15, citywide, registration open through the Parks Department website.
- Fourth of July Fireworks & Festival — July 4 at Hargrove Memorial Field, gates open at 5 p.m., fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
- Back-to-School Block Party — August 17 at Elmwood Community Center, featuring free school supply giveaways.
Parks and Recreation Director Sandra Okafor encouraged residents to sign up early for events that require registration, noting that last year's summer kickoff sold out within days.
