MILLBROOK, June 1 — Summer is officially open for business in Millbrook, and the city's parks and recreation department is calling this the busiest June programming slate in recent memory. Whether you're into live music, outdoor markets, or getting the kids out of the house, there's something on this month's calendar for just about everyone.
Highlights for the Month
- Millbrook Strawberry Festival — June 7–9 at Riverside Commons. Free admission, live bluegrass, pie contest, and over 40 local vendors. Presented by the Millbrook Merchants Alliance.
- Tuesday Night Jazz Series — Every Tuesday in June, 6–8 p.m., Founders Park Bandshell. Featuring rotating local acts including The Vero Quartet and The Dale Simmons Trio. Bring a blanket.
- Millbrook Farmers Market — Saturdays, 7 a.m.–noon, at the corner of Broad and 5th. Expanded this year to include a kids' cooking demonstration tent.
- Dellside Community Pool Opening Day — June 15. Free admission for Millbrook residents all day. Lap swim reservations required for adults.
- Millbrook Public Library Summer Reading Kickoff — June 10, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Story times, craft stations, and a visit from local author Priya Nettleton, who'll be signing copies of her new middle-grade novel.
The Parks and Rec department reminds residents that all Founders Park events are rain-or-shine, but the Strawberry Festival has a weather contingency plan that would shift indoor activities to the Millbrook Civic Auditorium on Grove Street. For a full event listing, updated weekly, check the city's official events board at millbrookparks.gov or pick up the printed insert tucked inside this week's print edition of The Courier.
