MILLBROOK, May 29 — It's been a big spring for The Fenwick Hollow Sound. The Millbrook-based indie-folk quartet — known locally for their residency at the Lamplight Lounge on Corbett Street — announced Wednesday that they've been selected to open for Nashville-based Americana act Bright Meridian on a 12-city summer tour hitting venues across the mid-Atlantic and Southeast. The run kicks off July 11 in Roanoke and swings through Charlotte, Savannah, and Asheville before wrapping August 3.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Celia Drummond said the opportunity came after Bright Meridian's touring manager caught one of the band's sets at the Millbrook Music & Arts Festival last September. "He left us a note on a napkin backstage," Drummond laughed. "We thought it was a joke at first." The band — which also includes bassist Jerome Lacy, fiddle player Sonja Weir, and drummer Pete Cannavale — released their second EP, Hollow Light, in March to quietly strong reviews in regional music press.
