MILLBROOK, May 14 — After years of residents clamoring for more entertainment options on the east side, a local developer has announced plans to open Starfield Cinema, a modern drive-in theater capable of hosting up to 280 vehicles per screening, at the former Hendricks Farm property along Route 9. The venue is expected to welcome its first guests by the last weekend of June, just in time for the summer blockbuster season.
What to Expect
Starfield Cinema will feature two screens running simultaneously, digital 4K projection, and FM radio audio broadcast so guests can tune in from their cars. Owner Delia Fontaine, who also runs the Millbrook Art House downtown, says the venue will prioritize family-friendly programming on weekends while reserving Friday nights for cult classics and themed double features. A concession stand modeled after a vintage 1950s diner will serve locally sourced food from several Millbrook restaurants.

City Council approved the zoning variance for the project in a 6–1 vote last month, with Councilmember Ray Tulloch casting the lone dissenting vote citing traffic concerns on Route 9. Fontaine says she has worked with the city's transportation department on a traffic management plan and expects most issues to be resolved before opening day.
