MILLBROOK, May 31 — Streaming platform Wavelength announced Thursday that it has greenlit a second season of Cedar Falls, the moody small-town drama that was filmed almost entirely on location in Millbrook during a six-week shoot last October and November. The show, which premiered in March to strong reviews and healthy viewership numbers, follows a county sheriff navigating a cold case reopening in a fictionalized version of a mid-sized American river town — a description that fits Millbrook closely enough that locals have had a lot of fun playing "spot the location" since it dropped.
Production on Season 2 is expected to return to Millbrook beginning in late September, according to a spokesperson for Wavelength's production partner Halyard Pictures. City economic development director Frank Sundaram said last year's shoot injected an estimated $1.1 million into the local economy through hotel stays, restaurant spending, crew hires, and permit fees. "We're thrilled they're coming back," Sundaram said. "We've already been in conversations with Halyard about expanding some of the location permits to include the historic warehouse district." Lead actors Tobias Carr and Meredith Solanke are both expected to return, per the announcement.
