Streaming Wars Heat Up: What Millbrook Viewers Are Actually Watching This Summer

With three major platforms dropping big premieres this week, the competition for eyeballs is fiercer than ever — and local viewers have some strong opinions. We asked around, and the results might surprise you.

MILLBROOK, June 3 — If you've tried to start a conversation at a backyard cookout lately, odds are someone brought up a streaming show within the first five minutes. This summer, the battle between the major platforms has never felt more intense, with Nexstream, VaultTV, and Prism+ all dropping flagship series within days of each other. According to a new report from media analytics firm Clearview Metrics, binge-viewing among households in mid-size American cities like Millbrook is up 18 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

What Locals Are Watching

  • "Harbor Lights" (Nexstream) — a coastal crime drama that's become the runaway word-of-mouth hit of the season
  • "The Lundgren Files" (VaultTV) — a docuseries on cold cases drawing strong numbers among the 35-54 demographic
  • "All In" (Prism+) — a high-stakes poker drama with a devoted but smaller cult following

We stopped by the Millbrook Public Library's digital lounge and asked patrons what they were streaming. The consensus leaned heavily toward Harbor Lights, though more than a few people admitted they were still catching up on last year's hits. "I don't have time to keep up with all of it," said Millbrook resident and teacher Marcus Folley, 41. "I just wait and see what survives the hype." It's a sentiment that probably resonates with a lot of us. Prism+ did not respond to a request for comment on its regional subscriber numbers.
