MILLBROOK, June 3 — The corner of Vine and Holbrook streets has a new anchor, and it smells incredible. Harvest & Thread, the much-anticipated farm-to-table restaurant from chef Marcus Delacroix and business partner Simone Okafor, officially opened Saturday to a line that stretched half a block before the first table was seated. By Sunday evening the restaurant had served more than 300 covers across lunch and dinner, a number Delacroix called "humbling and slightly terrifying."
The Concept and the Menu
Delacroix, a Millbrook native who trained in New Orleans and spent four years as sous chef at a James Beard-nominated restaurant in Nashville, says the guiding principle is simple: every ingredient on the menu must come from within 100 miles of Millbrook, with verified supplier relationships updated seasonally. The opening menu featured roasted beet salad with chevre from Hartley Goat Farm in Clarkton, pan-seared trout sourced from Ridgeline Aqua Farms, and a rotating grain bowl that changes based on what's available that week. Dinner entrées range from $18 to $36. A curated natural wine and regional craft beer list rounds out the beverage program.
Impact on the Southside
City economic development officials say Harvest & Thread is the fourth new restaurant to open in the Southside District in the past 18 months, part of a broader revitalization push along the Vine Street corridor. Okafor said the duo deliberately chose the neighborhood over more established dining districts. "We wanted to be part of building something, not just plug into something that already existed," she said. Harvest & Thread is open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. Reservations are strongly recommended and available through the restaurant's website.
