New Farm-to-Table Hot Spot Is Already the Talk of Millbrook's Dining Scene

Harvest & Root, the long-anticipated restaurant from chef Delanie Voss, opened its doors on Caldwell Street last week — and the lines haven't stopped since.

MILLBROOK, June 3 — Chef Delanie Voss spent three years planning Harvest & Root, and if the opening week crowd is any indication, the wait was absolutely worth it. The new farm-to-table spot at 418 Caldwell Street has been packed every night since its soft launch, drawing food lovers from across the region with a menu built almost entirely around ingredients sourced within 80 miles of the city.

What's on the Menu?

Voss, who previously ran the kitchen at the now-closed Birchwood Grille, describes the concept as "honest food with a sense of place." The current menu rotates weekly and features dishes like roasted beet tartare with goat cheese from Sunridge Farm, pan-seared walleye from local supplier Coldwater Catch, and a wood-fired half chicken with herb jus that has already become something of a signature. Vegetarian and vegan options take up nearly a third of the menu, a deliberate move Voss says reflects Millbrook's evolving dining expectations.

Reservations Are Tight — Here's How to Get One

  • Reservations open every Monday at 9 a.m. via the restaurant's website
  • A small walk-in section at the bar is held nightly on a first-come basis
  • Weekend brunch service launches July 12, with tickets available soon
  • Private dining room seats up to 18 and can be booked by contacting the restaurant directly

Harvest & Root is open Tuesday through Sunday, 5 to 10 p.m. Entrées range from $18 to $38. Voss told the Courier she hopes the restaurant becomes "a place where Millbrook gets to taste itself" — which, honestly, is a pretty great way to put it.
